Elm Grove, Wis. – November 19, 2018 – Variety – the Children’s Charity of Wisconsin celebrates Universal Children’s Day 2018 on November 20, 2018. On this day, many countries around the world celebrate Universal Children’s Day – a day on which the United Nations promotes and celebrates children’s rights – the right to life, health, education, protection from violence and discrimination – the right to live, laugh and learn.

Since 1990, Universal Children’s Day marks the anniversary of the date that the UN General Assembly adopted both the Declaration (1959) and the Convention (1989) on children’s rights.

Nancy Major, CEO of the Wisconsin Chapter of Variety – The Children’s Charity, said, “Variety supports the UN’s desire to continuously build a safe and friendly environment for children in the world through dialogue and actions. At Variety, we are proudly playing an important part in making Universal Children’s Day relevant for the societies, communities and nations in which we operate.”

Variety – The Children’s Charity of Wisconsin recognizes and thanks the United Nations, UNICEF, and related agencies for the outstanding work they do in providing leadership in promoting and celebrating children’s rights and opportunities.

Variety – the Children’s Charity of Wisconsin’s mission is “Improving the lives of at-risk, disadvantaged, critically ill or special needs children, regardless of ability to pay”.  Variety believes that ALL children deserve the opportunity to pursue a limitless future and works to inspire children to discover life without limits.  The state-wide organization is headquartered in Elm Grove, WI.
