Variety of Wisconsin is celebrating its 80th anniversary this month, and its role as host of the Variety International Conference at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee, April 30-May 3, is part of the celebration.
Variety of Wisconsin is one of the few remaining Variety chapters that has for its entire history maintained a close partnership with the theatre business. For its entire 80-year existence, the organization has worked closely with the industry to ensure that Wisconsin kids are helped.??
At the Variety International Conference and at their recommendation, two industry icons will accept the highest International Awards bestowed each year by Variety. Steve Marcus, chairman of The Marcus Corporation, will receive the Humanitarian of the Year Award and Paul Rogers, president of NATO of Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula, will receive the Catherine Variety Sheridan Award, which is named after the baby girl, found on a theatre seat in Pittsburgh, who inspired the organization. Additionally, NATO of Wisconsin & the Upper Peninsula of Michigan will receive a Variety International Corporate Award.??
Significantly, The Marcus Corporation and Variety of Wisconsin both turn 80 years old this year. And Paul Rogers will celebrate 20 years as president of NATO of Wisconsin.
